career journey and providing support for both youth and adults. Explore the following programs to meet
your employment needs. It's important to note that all these programs are made possible through our
valued partners, including MCAF, NBMC, ARAISA. As more partners join our network, additional
programs will be made available to further enhance your career development.
Employment Monitor program
For newcomers who are looking to kickstart your career in the Atlantic, the Employment Monitor program offers a unique opportunity for you to connect with seasoned professionals who are eager to guide and support you on your journey.
Personalized Guidance:
Experience one-on-one guidance from professional mentors who will share their knowledge and insights about their professions, the local job market, and the community.
Career Advice and Connections:
Gain valuable career advice, build essential connections, and navigate the local job market more effectively with the support of your dedicated mentor.
Network Expansion:
Expand your professional network by connecting with experienced professionals who can open doors to various career opportunities.
Language and Cultural Support:
Receive assistance in overcoming language barriers and understanding the local culture, ensuring a smoother integration into the workplace.
Employment Training for Youth
Training and Employment for Newcomer Youth (TENY) services coach newcomer youth to prepare for and to find jobs in the Atlantic.
TENY services provide information, training, and networking opportunities to support newcomer youth as they explore their career and educational pathways and goals.
To register for training or employment services, you need to make an appointment with a settlement and intake worker.
Skills Launch Program for Youth
This 10 month full-time Bridging Program is designed to support immigrant youth
ages 18 – 30, with gaps in their formal education, to explore their career options and
gain local work experience. Skills Launch participants:
- Learn about various occupations and Canadian workplace culture
- Evaluate career goals and gain new skills
- Complete health and safety training, including First Aid and CPR
- Complete Workplace Essential Skills (WES) and English Secondary Language training
- Complete a 26-week, paid work placement
Part-time and Summer Jobs
Explore the local job market and develop your own employment goals.
Learn how to:
- Search for jobs using both online tools and in-person strategies
- Successfully submit job applications
- Prepare your resume and practice your interview skills
- Learn about Canadian Work Culture:
- soft skills for the Canadian workplace
- workplace safety, rights and responsibilities
- Build your network
- Learn about volunteer opportunities, work placements and summer jobs
- Meet with local employers, attend job fairs
- Access online job search sites
- Attend networking events
The Youth Employment and Skills Strategy project
The Youth Employment and Skills Strategy project was a one-year research project designed to identify the employment-related needs of newcomer youth ages 15-30 in Atlantic Canada while also determining the extent to which these needs are currently being met through existing programming.

Newcomer Employment Services for Adults (NESA)
Newcomer Employment Services for Adults (NESA) offers a variety of services to enhance your understanding of the Canadian labor market work culture. Employment Coaches assist newcomers, pre-arrival and post-arrival, to successfully apply their skills in the Canadian workforce.
Atlantic Immigrant Career Loan Fund
AICLF is a community-based micro-loan program that assists internationally trained
immigrants throughout Atlantic Canada in overcoming those financial barriers to
becoming licensed to practice and/or entering the workforce in their field or a related

Better Together Supporting Temporary Foreign Workers
Better Together is a project funded by the government of Canada’s Migrant Worker Support Program.
The purpose of the program is to provide migrant workers with accurate information and access to available services and support and to assist them in learning about and exercising their rights while in Canada. The funding will serve the best interests of Migrant Workers in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick and Prince Edwards Island.
Adult Skills Launch Program for Adults
This 6-month full-time bridging program is designed to support immigrants aged 30 and above with gaps in their formal education. The primary goal of this program is to help these participants explore their career options and gain local work experience.

Federal Internship for Newcomers Program (FINP)
The Federal Internship for Newcomers Program (FIN) offers eligible newcomers a
chance to gain valuable temporary work experience and training opportunities with
Canadian federal, provincial and municipal organizations. Reach out below to learn more about the eligibility requirements and categories available in Fredericton.
Employment Group Sessions
MCAF's Employment Services team offer regular virtual employment sessions to all registered MCAF clients. You will receive invitations to these sessions via Eventbrite!
