Settlement Workers In Schools(SWIS)

Program design and provided by MCAF. Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) team in MCAF offer settlement services to newcomer students and their families. 

In partnership with local schools, the Anglophone School District and community partners, SWIS workers support students to learn about and to integrate into their new school and community.

The MCAF PLF program offers settlement services to newcomer francophone and allophone families who choose to integrate into the francophone community and school system.

Children & Youth Wellness, Recreation & Art Programs

The MCAF offers two childcare programs, Care for Newcomer Children (CNC)  and Rainbow of Cultures Childcare Centre (RoC), provide a safe learning environment for newcomer children. According to age groups, Children can explore different activities in Wellness, Recreation and Art.

Home Instruction For Parents Of Preschool Youngsters(HIPPY)

Are you a permanent resident / refugee newcomer to Canada with a 3 or 4 year old child? Do you want to help your child succeed in school? Are you willing to spend 15 minutes a day with your child?
HIPPY offers you the materials and support to engage your pre-schooler in activities related to Reading, Writing, Language, Mathematics, Science, Motor Development.

Digital Literacy Training Program

MCAF provides on-site digital literacy training classes designed to help people in different age groups and interests to improve their digital skills.  Daily schedules as below:

  • Digital Literacy Basic Training for Youth Age 13-18.  Mondays & Thursdays 4:30 - 6:30pm
  • Digital Literacy Intermediate Training for Youth Age 13-18. Tuesdays & Fridays 4:30 - 6:30pm 
  • Youth Learn to Code Age 13-18. Wednesdays 4:30 - 6:30pm
  • Digital Literacy For People with Intellectual Disabilities & other Disabilities. Tuesday 5:00-7:00pm
  • Digital Literacy Basic Training for Adults Age 19+.  Saturdays 9am - 12pm
  • Digital Literacy Intermediate Training for Adults Age 19+.  Saturdays 1- 4pm
